City Order Sets the Stage For Outdoor Dining at Restaurants

Last Updated: February 2, 2021

WORCESTER – City Manager Ed Augustus issued an executive order on Wednesday, June 3, to expedite the application process for restaurants to extend premises licenses for outdoor dining.

Augustus’ order comes days before Governor Charlie Baker is set to announce a date for Phase II of the state’s reopening plan to begin, expected Saturday, June 6.

Augustus’ order streamlines the process for restaurants to apply to expand to outdoor seating. The License Commission will meet three times per week to ensure a timely review of every application.

The order also waives the $100 application feed and the $156 sidewalk obstruction permit.
