WORCESTER - Clark University received a $6 million gift from an alumnus to support music education for its students and children in Worcester.
The gift is a bequest from Tina Sweeney, of Queens, New York, who earned her master’s degree in history from Clark in 1949. Sweeney passed away on April 24, 2020, at the age of 92.
The funds will be used to:
Sweeney also designated funds to the construction of Clark’s Jennie and Arthur Razzo Hall, which is named after her parents. The Hall is a campus hub for music concerts, film screenings, student workshops, and symposia.
According to the University, “Sweeney’s gift was inspired by her admiration for, and generosity toward, arts education and performance at Clark and in the neighborhood.”
