Governor Baker’s office today announced a series of expansions to the Massachusetts COVID-19 vaccine program, including the opening of Fenway Park as the second mass vaccination site in the state.

The first mass vaccination site, Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, opened on Monday, January 18.

The Fenway Park site will open on February 1 and expects to administer 400 vaccinations per day to those eligible in Phase 1 of the Massachusetts COVID-19 Vaccination Program.

Groups eligible in Phase 1 include:

  • Clinical and non-clinical health care workers doing direct and COVID-facing care
  • Long term care facilities, rest homes and assisted living facilities
  • First responders (EMS, Fire, Police)
  • Congregate care settings (including corrections and shelters)

Phase 2 of the program, expected to take place in February and March, includes individuals with 2+ comorbidities, those age 75+ and residents and staff of public and private low-income and affordable senior housing.

The program also includes working people in a range of other professions in Phase 2: education, utility, food and beverage, restaurant, sanitation and public works, transportation, retail, court systems, medical supply chain, funeral services and others.

Baker’s office also announced that Massachusetts will be among the first states to launch the COVID-19 CDC Pharmacy Partnership. The program will deliver 10,000 doses to at least 15 CVS and Walgreens pharmacies located across Massachusetts.

A new program, the Hospital Depot Initiative, will provide COVID-19 vaccines for independent physicians for office-based vaccination through a hospital in each region of the state.

UMass Memorial Medical Center is one hospital selected as a depot facility.

The others are Mass General Brigham, Lawrence General Hospital, Signature Brockton Hospital, Baystate Medical Center and Berkshire Medical Center.

UMass Amherst, which has only provided vaccinations to first responders, is also expanding its program. It will now offer vaccines to all eligible in Phase 1.
