UPDATE:
The Office of Governor Charlie Baker announced on the expansion of rapid COVID-19 testing. CVS Health will be administering the tests.
A statement from the Governor’s Office said that CVS Health will transition its effort to the new rapid testing site in Lowell which allows up to 1,000 patients to be tested per day.
The new rapid test, made by Abbott, allows patients to get on-the-spot results. Testing will now be overseen by licensed heath care providers from MinuteClinic, a part of CVS Health.
The location in Lowell is in the parking lot of Showcase Cinemas at 32 Reiss Ave.
The COVID-19 testing location at CVS in Shrewsbury will close tonight, according to State Representative Hannah Kane.
Kane says that CVS is opening a location for COVID-19 testing in Lowell. That location will have access to the rapid test, she said.
Kane represents the 11th Worcester District, which covers areas of Shrewsbury and parts of Westborough. She was first elected to the state house in 2015.
