WORCESTER - A 30-year-old Shrewsbury man is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court in Worcester on Friday, October 11, on charges of assaulting a federal probation officer.

Daniel Frederickson was charged on August 26, 2019 by criminal complaint with assaulting a federal employee and causing bodily injury.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Frederickson went to his regularly scheduled drug test at the U.S. Probation Office in Worcester on August 20.

While Frederickson was in the restroom, the probation officer entered to ask Frederickson if he needed water. Frederickson then punched, choked and threw the probation officer against the wall.

While on the ground, Frederickson got on top of the probation officer and continued to choke him and repeatedly slam his head against the ground.

Another federal probation officer witnessed the assault.

The charge of an assault of a federal employee carries an enhanced penalty if the assault results in bodily injury.  The enhanced penalty includes a term of imprisonment of up to 20 years, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
