Douglas Man Arrested in Worcester for Carjacking a Cab

WORCESTER – Two stolen vehicles in Worcester during the morning on Wednesday, October 13, led to the arrest of a local man who faces carjacking and other charges.

Worcester Police arrived on Shrewsbury Street around 8:30 AM in response to a carjacking report. At the scene, officers learned from witnesses of a carjacking of a cab.

According to Worcester Police, officers learned that a cab driver picked up a man on Belmont Street. While traveling on Shrewsbury Street, the man strangled the driver from behind, punched him in the face, and brandished a knife.

The man robbed the driver and forced him out of the cab on Imperial Place.

Police located the cab at Honey Farms at 304 Belmont Street. Witnesses reported the man ran into the store, then away on foot.

At around 8:50 AM, Worcester Police received a report of a vehicle stolen from a driveway on Lyon Street.

Officers located that vehicle with Jeffrey Packard, 32, of Douglas, inside it at 263 Lincoln Street.

Packard faces charges of:

  • Carjacking
  • Armed Assault to Rob
  • Armed Robbery
  • Assault and Battery
  • Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
  • Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority.
