Canal District Streets Convert to One-Way on Monday

WORCESTER – The Department of Public Works and Parks [DPW] announced  changes to the direction of Pond Street and Harrison Street and parking changes on Beach Street and Temple Street in the Canal District.

Worcester City Council approved an ordinance that transitions the driving directions of Pond Street and Harrison Street from two-way to one-way. 

The changes are effective Monday, December 13.

Pond Street will change to westbound only between Harding Street and Green Street. Parking availability will be only on the south side of the street. The existing Residential Permit Parking zone on Pond Street will remain.

Harrison Street from Harding Street to Green Street will be converted to one-way.

Harrison street will change to eastbound only between Harding Street and Green Street. Parking will continue to be permitted on only the south side of the street.

DPW also announced changes to parking availability on Beach Street and Temple Street.

On Beach Street, parking becomes prohibited on the west side of the street and a portion of the east side. On Temple Street, parking availability is consolidated to the south side of the street between Harding Street and Green Street. On all four streets — Pond, Harrison, Beach and Temple — two-hour parking limits will apply to on-street parking between 8 AM and 9 PM.
