Dudley Man Arrested on Grafton St. with Illegal Gun 1

WORCESTER – Early Monday morning, a 42-year-old Dudley man was arrested by Worcester Police officers on Grafton St. with an illegal handgun.

According to the WPD, around 4:10 AM, officers were dispatched to Cumberland Farms at 263 Grafton St. for a report of a person with a gun. Witnesses told police that the male, later identified as Juan Lopez, was showing the gun off to people and bragging that he did not need protection. He allegedly told witnesses not to “call the cops on him.”

Officers spotted Lopez further up Grafton St. and — after a short foot pursuit — found him on Cutler St.  Lopez threw the firearm while running from police. Officers found the black handgun. It was loaded and Lopez did not have a license to carry firearms.

Lopez was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Firearm without a License to Carry, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Armed Career Criminal Level 3, Receiving a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, Intimidation of a Witness, Disorderly Conduct, and Improper Storage of a Firearm. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
