The Massachusetts Department of Transportation [MassDOT] announced overnight exit and lane closings on the Mass Pike, I-290 and Rt. 146 starting on Sunday, May 22, and continuing throughout the week.
Detour signage will be in place in each location.
Mass Pike (I-90) Lane Closures at Exit 96 (old Exit 11)
MassDOT will close various lanes on the Mass Pike at Exit 96 in Millbury on both eastbound and westbound sides between Sunday, May 23 and Thursday, May 27. The closures will occur nightly between 10 PM to 5 AM.
The lane closures will close the on-ramp from Rt. 122 to the Mass Pike eastbound. Detour signage will direct drivers to use Rt. 20 westbound to exit 94.
Overnight on Thursday, May 27, a rolling road block will require a brief hold of traffic to allow a bridge beam removal. The hold on traffic will occur after 11 PM.
I-290 Westbound Exit 16 & 18
MassDOT is implementing a temporary overnight closure of Exit 18 on I-290 westbound to Rt. 9 from Sunday, May 23, at 9 PM until Monday, May 24, at 4 AM. Detours will direct drivers to exit 16.
Exit 16 on I-290 westbound to East Central St./ MLK Jr. Blvd. will close on Tuesday, May 25, at 9 PM and reopen at 4 AM on Wednesday, May 26. Detours will direct drivers to Exit 14 (Grafton St.)
The exit closures will facilitate routine road construction.
Rt. 146 Exit 11 and Exit 13 Closures
MassDOT is closing the on-ramp and off-ramp at Exit 11 (old Exit 6) in Sutton and Exit 13 (old Exit 7) in Northbridge on the southbound side of Rt. 146 nightly from 8 PM through 5 AM. The nightly closures begin on Sunday, May 23, through Thursday, May 27.
The Exit 11 ramps and the Exit 13 ramps on Rt. 146 southbound will not close at the same time.
When Exit 13 is closed, detour signage will direct drivers that wish to enter Rt 146 southbound to take Rt. 146 northbound and reverse direction at Boston Rd.
When Exit 11 is closed, detour signage will direct drivers to that wish to enter Rt 146 southbound to take Rt. 146 northbound to Exit 13 to reverse direction.
