Police Investigating Crash Killing 3 People on Rt. 84

Massachusetts State Police provided more information about the crash on Saturday, including the names of the victims.

The crash involved a 2009 Nissan Murano, travelling west in the eastbound lanes of Rt. 84 prior to Exit 6b in Sturbridge, striking a 2011 Volvo XC60 traveling east on the eastbound side.

The driver of the Nissan, Deyla Jackson, 40, of Worcester, and the operator and passenger of the Volvo, Irene Karam, 83 of Manchester, NH and Patricial Knauer, 62, of Deland FL, all sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.

STURBRIDGE – Massachusetts State Police and local law enforcement are investigating a crash Saturday evening on Rt. 84 in Sturbridge which resulted in the three fatal injuries.

According to State Police, around 6 PM on Saturday night, troopers responded to reports of a crash involving a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes of Rt. 84 before Exit 6B in Sturbridge.

Life saving efforts were put into action by responding cruisers, but the crash killed one occupant in one vehicle and two occupants in a second vehicle.

Police are not providing any other information at this time. The cause and circumstances around the crash remain under investigation.
