WORCESTER – We’re halfway through Giving Tuesday — a global day of giving falling on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving Day and following popular shopping days, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

ThisWeekinWorcester.com has put together a list of local charities and organizations that are near and dear to us and that could use the support of the Worcester community.

Here are several great ways to give in Worcester today!

365Z Foundation – a Worcester organization designed to inspire and guide others to perform conscious acts of kindness within their community.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – a national organization focused on the relentless search for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Each year at Quinsigamond State Park in Worcester, the CF Foundation hosts the CF Foundation’s Great Stride walk to raise money for research.

Worcester Cowboys Youth Football Team – The Worcester Cowboys are the New England Regional Champions after going undefeated this season and have been invited to the 2017 American Youth Football National Championships in Florida next month. They need to raise $30,000 by the end of this week.

Tatnuck Magnet School – A teacher with 30 students in the Worcester Public School system needs an ELMO – a projector used to improve students’ writing and math skills. The Worcester teacher is trying to raise $1,114.

New Citizens Center – An ESL teacher in Worcester is trying to raise $500 for a new project, “Blankets of Comfort,” to encourage her students to work together and give back to the community. They will be making no-sew fleece blankets for hospitals and other organizations in Worcester.

Pathways for Change – A Worcester organization working to address the impact of sexual violence by providing quality and multicultural services to those whose lives have been impacted by sexual violence and to provide education geared toward ending violence. They accept one-time or monthly recurring payments.

United Way of Central Massachusetts – Helping families from more than 30 towns in Central MA, the United Way works to invest in educational opportunities to help families and communities. They accept one-time, annual, quarterly or monthly donations. Also, check out their 2017 Holiday Wish List for other volunteering and donating opportunities!

Simon Says Give – Worcester – This organization raises money to purchase backpacks and school supplies for at-need kids in middle school in Worcester and hosts birthday parties for children ages 5 to 12 with families that otherwise couldn’t afford them.

CASA Project, Inc. – a nonprofit organization based in Worcester that provides advocacy services to children living in foster care. 

Mass LEAP – with their #GiveLouder campaign, Mass LEAP – working to build a vibrant youth spoken word community in Massachusetts – are trying to raise $5,000 today!

ArtsWorcester – a Worcester organization working to inspire artists of all ages and to develop and grow a strong art community throughout the city.

Children’s Smile Coalition –  Santa’s Big League provides gifts for teens in need — often the forgotten group of kids with Toys for Tots campaigns — and ensures great holidays for this overlooked population in Worcester.
