BOSTON – A local man was taken into custody on Wednesday on charges of conspiring to distribute fentanyl and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon.
Yoelfi Feliz, 27, of Worcester, faces a criminal complaint for one count of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. After his initial court appearance in Boston today, Feliz was detained pending a hearing set for Nov. 30, 2023.
The complaint alleges that from June to October 2023, Feliz sold over 700 grams of fentanyl to a cooperating witness in Lawrence. Additionally, he is accused of selling two pistols, an AR-15 rifle, an AK-47 rifle, and two privately made firearms, also known as “ghost guns,” along with ammunition to the witness.
The charge of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances could result in up to 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years of supervised release, and a fine of $1 million. The charge of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
