Worcester Firefighter Killed in Four-Alarm Fire

WORCESTER – Jason Menard, a Lieutenant of the Worcester Fire Department, was killed while responding to a four-alarm fire last night while responding to a fire at 7 Stockholm Street just before 1 A.M. He was 39 years old and leaves his wife Tina and three children.

Menard joined the Worcester Fire Department in 2010. He was assigned to Ladder 5 at the McKeon Road Fire Station.

In announcing Menard’s death, Worcester Fire Chief Michael Lavoie said that “Lieutenant Menard’s heroic actions saved the life of one of his crew members.”

The Stockholm Street fire also sent three other firefighters to the hospital. One is in serious but stable condition while the other two have been released.

A woman was also hospitalized with serious injuries. No other injuries have been reported.
