Fitchburg PD Searching for Teen Who Escaped State Custody

FITCHBURG – The Fitchburg Police Department is searching for 15-year-old Avante Thompson who has been missing since June 20, 2019 after escaping from state custody.

According to Fitchburg PD Operations Commander Capt. Matthew LeMay, the department is actively looking to locate Thompson who ran from the custody of the state’s Dept. of Children & Families [DCF].

In an email to ThisWeekinWorcester.com on Monday, Aug. 5, LeMay said that the Fitchburg PD has been working in partnership with DCF to locate Thompson and have kept the state up-to-date on the case.

“We have also attempted to contact several of Avante’s family members in attempts to obtain his location. Unfortunately, with all of our efforts, we have not been successful in gathering any information that could lead to his safe return,” LeMay said.

Thompson 5’11” and 140 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He is biracial.
