BOSTON – A former member of the Fitchburg chapter of the Latin Kings to two years in prison on Thursday, April 1.

A federal judge sentenced Dairon Rivera, known as “King Mafia,” 27, after a guilty plea in December to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl.

Rivera admitted to selling over 40 grams of fentanyl to a cooperating witness in a series of audio/video recorded sales that took place between April and December 2017.

A federal grand jury indicted 62 leaders, members and associates of the Latin Kings in December 2019. The allegations included racketeering conspiracy, drug conspiracy, and firearms charges.

Rivera is the 22nd defendant sentenced in the case.

According to the office of the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, the Latin Kings are a violent criminal enterprise comprised of thousands of members across the United States. As alleged in court documents, the gang uses drug distribution to generate revenue, and engages in violence against witnesses and rival gangs to further its influence and to protect its turf.
