In today’s daily 5 Things You Need to Know feature, ThisWeekinWorcester.com explores five important items and stories that Worcester and Central Massachusetts residents should keep a close eye on.

These five things can cover a whole range of subjects and issues that we feel are pertinent to understanding what’s going on in the city and the cities and towns surrounding Worcester.

In today’s edition — Wednesday, Oct. 30 — the Worcester Historical Museum’s Teddy Bear needs a name, a Millbury St. bar is doing a ticket giveaway called “The Golden Hookah”, St. V’s and the cops worked together to gather lots of Halloween candy, Abby’s House is planning is big, annual bazaar and a really famous book nerd is coming to a local senior center.

There’s a Contest To Name the Worcester Historical Museum’s New Teddy Bear Mascot

Let’s make it clever, but keep it kid-friendly. The Worcester Historical Museum has a new mascot. This annual holiday Teddy Bear Tea series is returning and the new Teddy Bear needs a name. He’s not going to really “exist” until he has a proper name, so let’s help out.

Submit your Teddy name to [email protected] or fill out a Name Our Teddy contest entry form at the museum front desk when you visit. All entries must be submitted by Monday, Nov. 4. The winner will be announced at the Tea on Saturday, Dec. 7, and will receive a special Teddy Bear to call their very own…plus have their photo taken and posted in the January eNewletter.

Hint: “Teddy” or “Ted” likely will not win the contest.
