Chamber Taps into Hispanic Community with Vocero Hispano Column
In an effort to better communicate with all of the residents of Worcester, as well as its five affiliate Chamber communities, beginning next month the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce kicks off a bi-weekly column published by Vocero Hispano Newspaper, Inc.
“We are excited about this partnership with Vocero Hispano and the conversations it will enable with the Latino community,” said Timothy P. Murray, president and CEO of the Chamber, in a statement.
“We are proud to enter into this partnership and excited to see the positive impact it will have on the Hispanic community,” said Pablo D. Santiago, president and CEO of Vocero Hispano Newspaper, Inc.
Readers get to hear from multiple members of the Chamber’s team over the coming year as it discusses myriad topics.
“Seeking to reflect the diversity of the greater Worcester region in Chamber membership, partnering with Vocero Hispano is an important initiative for the Chamber,” said Sharyn Williams, vice president of marketing, communications, programs, and events for the Chamber. “By expanding our reach, we also expand our membership base and create additional opportunities for entrepreneurs throughout the region.”
Chamber content appear every other week beginning with the Dec. 6 edition of the Vocero Hispano Newspaper and can be found in the business section of the paper.
A Call Out for Sculpture
It’s not often you hear that someone’s looking for sculpture. You’re in luck if you’ve got one! ArtsWorcester announces a call for sculpture for “Gravity/Levity: A Juried Members’ Exhibition.” The deadline for submissions is Thursday, Jan. 9.
“Sculpture may be perceived as having significant weight, but often the finished work contradicts the medium,” said the release. “A buoyant image can be formed from the heaviest material, while a deeper narrative might be constructed of light paper.”
ArtsWorcester invites submissions of sculpture that interact with ideas of weight and/or weightlessness, both conceptually and materially. Sculpture in any media is eligible for consideration.
Lisa Crossman, PhD, curator at the Fitchburg Art Museum, serves as juror. Five hundred dollars in prizes will also be awarded, and winners will be announced at the opening reception on Friday, June 19, 2020.
Selected works will be exhibited in ArtsWorcester’s state-of-the-art galleries from June through August, 2020. The space offers complete physical accessibility, nearly 2,000 square feet of exhibition space, professional installation, museum-quality lighting and labeling, ceiling anchors, and plywood blocking in all walls. A stationary loading dock is available for load-in.
