Take 20 Steps to Wellness with the Herren Project Today

ThisWeekinWorcester.com is a proud community partner for the Herren Project’s Wellness Week with Herren.

Wellness Week runs now until Saturday, March 6, and each day has special programming with a unified theme. The week celebrates wellness and its importance to prevention and recovery, as well as supporting, inspiring and empowering those affected by substance use disorder.

Herren Project is a national nonprofit organization providing free resources and support for the treatment, recovery and prevention of substance use disorder.

Spin Week for Kids for Why Me & Sherry’s House Starts March 7

Spin Week for Kids is an annual benefit for Why Me & Sherry’s House entering its fourth year. It raised $100,000 over its first three years.

Gathering restrictions are changing the event this year, but a virtual component this year adds a new way to take part.

This year, the event sponsored by Worcester Fitness will take place over a week — March 7 to 13. Participants are asked to ride for 100 miles over three hours and donate $500 towards the cause.

Burncoat Pizza Celebrating 14th Anniversary with $5 Cheese Pizza

In celebration of its 14th anniversary, Burncoat Pizza is offering its customers a special offer. For Saturday, March 6 only, a small cheese pizza will only be $5.

Brew City to Reopen on Friday, March 19

After closing for several weeks back in January — in part due to state COVID-19 capacity restrictions — Brew City will officially reopen on Friday, March 19 at 4 PM.

The popular Shrewsbury St. restaurant made the announcement this week.

Massachusetts has the Sixth Most Coronavirus Restrictions in the U.S.

A new study by WalletHub.com finds that Massachusetts is the state with the 6th Most Coronavirus restrictions.

The study analyzed 14 key metrics to list all 50 states and the District of Columbia from least restrictive to most restrictive.

The following rankings represent how Massachusetts ranked in these areas when compared to the rest of the country.

(1 = Fewest restrictions, 51 = Most restrictions):

  • 16th – Requirement to Wear a Face Mask in Public
  • 18th – State Guidance on Customer Health Checks at Restaurants
  • 46th – Travel Restrictions
  • 30th – Large Gatherings Restrictions
  • 48th – Strictness of “Shelter in Place” Order
  • 22nd – Reopening of Non-Essential Businesses
  • 20th – Reopening of Restaurants and Bars
  • 15th – Working from Home Requirements/Recommendations
