WORCESTER – The City of Worcester and the surrounding towns and cities of Worcester County could see upwards of two inches of rain throughout the day on Saturday.

The National Weather Service [NWS] has issued a Flood Watch for the area and expects the heavy rainfall to start around 2 AM tomorrow morning.

The Flood Watch will likely also effect most of Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut.

According to NWS, widespread rain with heavier showers in between is expected to develop late Friday night and last to Saturday evening.

The higher amounts of rain may result in urban and poor drainage flooding. The heavy rainfall may also contribute to sharp rises for a few smaller streams throughout the flood watch area.
