The Massachusetts Department of Health [DPH] has issued a flu severity warning of “very high” across the state.

The severity warning is determined by three factors: influenza -like illness, hospitalizations, and influenza positive test results reported to the DPH.

According to the DPH, the percentage of flu-like illness hospital visits in the state continues to increase and flu-like illness activity is the highest since 2017.

All flu strains that have been characterized in Massachusetts this season to date are covered by the current influenza vaccine.
