WORCESTER – Former Worcester District One City Councilor Sean Rose announced he will run for an at-large seat in 2025.
Rose chose not to run for reelection after representing District One through 2023. He serves as president and CEO of Thrive Support and Advocacy and became the elected chairperson of the Worcester Democratic City Committee earlier this year.
In a social media post on Thursday, Nov. 21, Rose said, “Worcester is at a critical juncture, and we need leadership that unites us, listens to every voice, and ensures progress benefits all residents.”
Rose also said he “was honored to champion initiatives that benefited the entire city, including inclusionary zoning, accessory dwelling units, a specialized stretch code, and securing over a billion dollars in public and private investment.” He also said he prioritized sustainable growth, equitable housing, and meaningful community development.
Rose served as the councilor representing District One starting in 2018, after defeating Edward Moynihan in the 2017 elections by three over three percentage points. In 2019, he ran for re-election unopposed. In his last run in District One in 2021, Rose defeated Richard Cipro by six percentage points.
In 2023, Jenny Pacillo earned 61 percent of the vote when defeating Dave Peterson in the race to represent District One.
