WORCESTER – A month-long investigation by the Worcester Police Department Vice Squad led to the arrest of two Worcester men on Wednesday, January 19.

The investigation of drug distribution from the Main South Market and Smoke Shop, at 1025 Main Street, led to search warrants for the store and a related apartment.

When Jesus Fontanez, 44, left the store on Wednesday, officers followed, stopped him, and brought him back to the store. Officers entered the store as the same time, and detained Yanira Figueroa, also 44-years-old.

According to the Worcester Police Department, the search of the store led to the seizure of 51 grams of fentanyl and 53 grams of cocaine, a loaded 9mm firearm, scales, currency, and packaging material. The search of the apartment led to a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson firearm, currency, packaging materials, and scales.

Both Fontanez and Figueroa face charges of Trafficking in Class A 36-99, Trafficking in Cocaine 36-99, and several firearms charges.
