Mass. - Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development awarded $246 million in state grants to four projects in Worcester County, including Curtis Apartments in Worcester.
The $330 million project at Curtis Apartments, which is adjacent to Great brook Valley, includes the demolition of all 372 existing apartments and 527 new units. The Worcester Housing Authority and Trinity Financial Inc. are partnering on the project.
The $246 million funding package supports 27 projects in 20 communities that will build and preserve 1,600 affordable and mixed-income housing units in Massachusetts.
The funding also supports development of what was the Worcester Boys Club at Lincoln Square in Worcester. That project, by WinnDevelopment, will create 80 affordable housing units.
In Fitchburg, funding will support a project at 470 Main Street that will create 26 affordable units and 38 total units
The fourth Worcester County project included in the round of funding is the Westminster Senior Residences. Located next to the Westminster Senior Center, this project will create 50 new affordable units for seniors.
The funding for each project was not revealed when the funding was announced.
