WORCESTER – Four people were arrested and charged with illegally possessing a firearm in Worcester last week.

According to the Massachusetts State Police [MSP], Trooper Thomas Mace from the State Police Barracks in Holden stopped a red Pontiac Grand AM on Southbridge Street in Worcester for an expired registration sticker.

Michael Freeman, 26, of Oxford was driving on a suspended license. The front passenger, was identified as Andrew Mongeon 32, of Webster and the two rear passengers were identified as Christopher Baton, 30, and Deidre Harty, 41, both from Southbridge. As a result of a search of the vehicle, a revolver loaded with five rounds of .22 caliber ammunition and several loose rounds of .22 caliber ammunition were located.

Trooper Joseph Flynn and Worcester Police Officer James D’Andrea assisted Trooper Mace during the motor vehicle stop.All four subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Holden Barracks where they were booked on the following charges.

Freeman was charged with the following offenses: Possession / Carrying a Firearm; Carrying a Loaded Firearm; Store Improper Firearm; and Possession of Ammunition without Fid Card. He was also issued a motor vehicle citation for an Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Suspended License.

Mongeon was charged with the following offenses: Possession / Carrying a Firearm; Carrying a Loaded Firearm; Store Improper Firearm; Firearm Violation with 3 Prior Violent/Drug Crimes; and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

Baton was charged with the following offenses: Possession / Carrying a Firearm; Carrying a Loaded Firearm; Store Improper Firearm; and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

Harty was charged with the following offenses: Possession / Carrying a Firearm; Carrying a Loaded Firearm; Store Improper Firearm; and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

Bail was set for each individual. Baton and Harty were released on $40 bail. Freeman was released on $540 bail. Mongeon’s bail was set at $1040 and was held pending.  All four subjects were scheduled for arraignment the next day in Worcester District Court.
