WORCESTER – Several Worcester police officers were assaulted while trying to break up a large fight at the Beer Garden in downtown Worcester early Saturday morning.

Police described the scene as “violent and chaotic.”

Six people were arrested on various charges including assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

According to the WPD, around 12:30 AM, an officer at the Beer Garden witnessed a fight break out and called in for assistance.

Hundreds of people were at the Beer Garden when staff decided to close for the night. As officers assisted with moving the crowd out of the bar, more fights broke out.

While attempting to break up one of the fights, a female officer had a large chunk of hair pulled out of her head by 33-year-old Robert Gould of Merrifield St. Gould kicked another officer, and refused orders to put his hands behind his back.

As officers tried subduing Gould, a large crowd surrounded them. Officers were outnumbered and were being taunted by the crowd around them.

26-year-old Natalie Price, of Alpine Street, approached an officer who was on the ground trying to complete an arrest. Price took the officer’s baton and as the officer tried to stop her, Price bit the officer’s bicep, breaking the skin on the officer’s arm and causing bleeding.

Monique Agbanyo, 21, of Leicester, pushed through the crowd and grabbed one of the officers who was trying to control an arrestee. She punched another officer in the face before she was taken to the ground and placed under arrest. While on the ground, Agbanyo nearly struck an officer in the eye with her high heel when she tried to kick the officer in the face.

Gould and Price were placed under arrest when more officers arrived.

21-year-old Evan Baptiste, of Oxford, ran up behind the officers and tried to grab them. He was placed under arrest.

Christopher Ayala-Melendez, 22, of Franklin St, was also arrested when he tried to push past officers in an attempt to get to the other arrested individuals. He shoved a K9 officer, and the K9 delivered a bite to Ayala-Melendez’ lower back as he was placed under arrest.

Finally, 25-year-old Octavia Miller, of Lovell St., was arrested as approached the officers screaming and nearly punching an officer in the face.

Each of the individuals arrested were brought to the police station. They will be arraigned in Worcester District Court on Monday and are charged with the following:
