WORCESTER – Following a fire on Sunday morning that destroyed a Canterbury St. home, family, friends and co-workers have begun raising money to help a Worcester Public Schools employee get back on her feet.
The owner of the home, Carmen Perez of 243 Canterbury St., is a instructional aide at Burncoat Senior high school.
According to a recently launched GoFundMe campaign, Perez lost everything in the fire, but her dog and two cats survived.
The campaign is aiming to raise $3,000 to help replace some of Perez’ lost possessions.
As of late Monday evening, the campaign had raised $170 in 12 hours.
