WORCESTER – The City of Worcester now offers free home pickup of used or unwanted items through a partnership with Helpsy.
Accepted items include clothing, footwear, accessories, linens, belts, jewelry, shoes, blankets, bed sheets, luggage, and several other items. See the full list of accepted items below.
The program helps residents dispose of items responsibly, without throwing them in the trash. Moving toward “Zero Waste” is a major goal of the Green Worcester Plan.
Worcester is the 32nd municipality to partner with Helpsy. Its partners in Massachusetts include Boston, Cambridge, and Salem.
Sign up for a home pickup here. Home pickups in Worcester take place weekly, on Monday, between 7 AM and 5 PM.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, textile waste is the fastest growing type of trash in the country and takes up nearly 5% of all landfill space. Americans throw 85% of their clothes in the trash, which is why Helpsy partners with Worcester and other municipalities and organizations for residents to responsibly dispose of unwanted items.
