What’s your favorite holiday cookie?
That’s what the folks at General Mills wanted to know when they started collecting data on the “most-clicked” holiday cookies across all 50 states.

General Mills created their list by sorting through the top cookie recipes most visited across BettyCrocker.com, Pillsbury.com and Tablespoon.com.
In Massachusetts, the Sugar Cookie M&M Square reigned supreme. Here’s a Betty Crocker recipe for them.
“People like a nod to something familiar,” says Pillsbury and Betty Crocker cookbook executive editor, Cathy Swanson Wheaton. “It’s really fun to see that some of the eastern states selected an Italian cookie as their favorite, and I think that might speak to their Italian heritage. And some of the southern states tended to choose nut-based recipes. For example, Georgia picked a pecan recipe and they’re the number one pecan producer in the United States.”
The most popular holiday cookie in the United States is the peanut butter blossom — chosen by seven states: Florida, Pennsylvania, California, Kentucky, Nevada, South Carolina and Wyoming.
According to General Mills, the most-searched cookie recipe all-year round is Betty Crocker’s Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies and GM kept them off the list as it would’ve been the top cookie recipe in 22 states if it remained.
