Holy Cross Freshman Completes a Massive December

Holy Cross forward Joe Pridgen won Patriot League Rookie of the Week three straight weeks in December and ended the month with 17 points and 9 rebounds on Sunday.

The only game of the previous week Pridgin had 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in a loss to Sacred Heart, earning his third Rookie of the Week honors of the month.

Pridgin started all seven games for the Crusaders in December, averaging 20 points and 8 rebounds in each contest.

After his first month of the season, four games in November, Pridgin was averaging just 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.

With a season average of 16.3 points per game, he now leads the team. Prigen’s 7.5 rebounds is just behind sophomore and fellow forward Marlon Hargis’ 7.8 per game.

First year head coach Brett Nelson has fielded a young group this season, starting three freshmen and a sophomore in most games. Though they’ve only managed one win over the first 13 contests, the team is showing signs of growth and being well positioned for the future.
