WORCESTER – On Wednesday evening, Holy Cross women’s and men’s basketball teams will play a doubleheader to support the Ava Roy Fund.

Twenty percent of all regularly priced tickets sold for the two games will be donated to the fund.

The Ava Roy Fund was created to provide support for the 9-year-old daughter of fallen Worcester firefighter Christopher Roy, who died in the line of duty on Dec. 9, 2018.

Wednesday’s women’s game against Navy – which serves as part of the department’s Military and First Responders Appreciation Initiative – begins at 5:05 PM and will be followed by the men’s game against Colgate at 7:35 PM.

The Worcester Police Department and Worcester Fire Department will also face off in a friendly basketball game at halftime of the women’s contest.

AMPP (Art Music Police Partnership) student Eliana Aviles will perform the National Anthem along with resident musician Johneric Lavergne while Worcester Fire Department Honor Guard will present Colors.

Tickets for the women’s game are available here and tickets for the men’s game are available here.

All active or retired military personnel and all first responders can receive free admission to the women’s basketball game and can purchase half-priced tickets for family and friends.

Additional donations to the Ava Roy Fund can be made at avaroyfund.com.
