In 100th Game, Two Seniors Push Holy Cross Women to Win

WORCESTER – Women’s basketball seniors Lauren Manis and Madalyn Smith played their 100th game for Holy Cross on Saturday in a 65-52 win at Sacred Heart. 

Manis contributed her fifth double-double of the year with 23 points on 9 for 12 shooting and 11 rebounds along with 2 blocks and 3 steals. She leads the team in both categories averaging 17.9 points and 12 rebounds per game on the season.

Smith added 7 points and 7 assists, the latter being more than half the team’s total of 13. 

Center Megan Swords, also a senior, added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the win.

Manis scored 10 of the first 12 points for her team to start the second half after being down one at the break. By the middle of the third quarter, the Crusaders were up 7. 

The Crusaders were up 17 with 8 minutes left in the game and never allowed the gap to be closer than 11 through the final buzzer. 

The Crusaders take a 5-3 record to the academic finals break and won’t be on the court again until New Hampshire comes to Worcester on Sunday, December 22.
