WORCESTER – Although a new school year has recently started, an investigation of Chandler Elementary School’s 2017 MCAS scores continues.

As ThisWeekinWorcester.com [TWIW] reported in March, an investigation began last October by the Dept. of Education into the MCAS scores due to anomalies found in the test results.

Chandler Elementary’s were the only MCAS scores in the state that were not released and held for review, according to an Oct. 18 report by the Telegram & Gazette.

Even after nearly a year investigating the scores, the Massachusetts Dept. of Education has no new updates and the Worcester Public School system has no new information.

In a recent email to TWIW, Massachusetts Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education [DESE] spokesperson Jacqueline Reis, said there is “no new information” regarding the investigation.

Worcester Public Schools spokesperson Kate Kerr told TWIW that the investigation remains open and was not able to speak to specifics of the investigation while it remained open.

Back in March, Reis told TWIW, “typical timetable for an investigation, because the circumstances around each are unique.”

No other agency beyond the DOE were investigating Chandler Elementary’s MCAS scores.
