Former Auburn Elementary School Teacher Sentenced for Rape

WORCESTER – Worcester Superior Court Judge William Ritter sentenced a former Auburn elementary school teacher after finding the man guilty last week of raping a student over a decade ago.

Stephen Jaszek, 66, of South Hadley, was back in court and received a sentence of 18 to 20 years in prison on one count of aggravated rape of a child by a mandated reporter. He received a concurrent sentence of 18 to 20 years on one count of aggravated rape of a child by a mandated reporter, two counts of aggravated rape of a child and one count of aggravated rape of a child under the age of 14 by a mandated reporter. Jaszek will be required to register as a sex offender.

The Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr.’s office sought a sentence of 25 to 35 years in prison.

The rapes occurred between 2009 and 2010 while the female victim was a student and took place inside a school classroom. The victim came forward to report the crime in 2018.
