WORCESTER – Police responded to Fourth Street on Thursday, June 23, just after midnight, after two residents reported a male threatened them with a machete after a verbal altercation. The man also threatened to return with a firearm and shoot the two men.
Police identified the man as Joseph Johnston, 34, of Worcester.
During the investigation, police believed they heard a gunshot from Johnston’s residence. Officers set up a perimeter and soon arrested Johnston after locating him on his porch.
Officers received a warrant for Johnston’s residence and found a large capacity feeding device and a fully loaded magazine
Johnston faces charges of:
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon;
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card;
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device; and
- Threat to Commit a Crime.
