Eight hours after being officially named the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Josh McDaniels has decided to stay on as the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Mike Reiss of ESPN added McDaniels’ decision was based on clarity on head coach Bill Belichick’s status with the team and stability for his family.

Earlier today, the Colts tweeted the official announcement and added there would be a press conference on Wednesday to officially introduce their new head coach.

McDaniels was with the Patriots from 2006-08 before coming back to the team in 2012.
