WORCESTER – A car stolen in Worcester was recovered the next morning, leaving a local man facing several charges.

Police received a report from a man at 8:30 PM on Thursday, September 22, that his backpack, cell phone and vehicle were stolen while he was at Crompton Park. The man had also discovered his debit card was used at a nearby liquor store.

Responding officers reported the description of the stolen vehicle and a “be on the lookout” alert was issued.

On Friday morning, at 8:30 AM, the victim reported seeing his vehicle with a stranger inside it on Sigel Street.

An officer arrived at the scene and identified Daniel Knight, 41, of Worcester, allegedly inside the vehicle. A search revealed a bottle of a Hennessey and a backpack. After reviewing the surveillance video at the liquor store, police say Knight was identified as the individual who used the debit card.

Knight faces charges of:

  • Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority;
  • Receiving Stolen Property over $1200;
  • Larceny Under $1200; and
  • Identity Fraud.
