WORCESTER – A local man who acted as a mentor as Shrewsbury High School was arrested on Monday for possession of and transporting child pornography.
Brian Lingard, 60, of Shrewsbury, was in processing by U.S. Customs after a flight from Paris to Boston when images depicting child sexual abuse on his phone. When authorities searched his home, devices with additional images were found, according to federal prosecutors.
Prosecutors also say that images were discovered of fully clothed, minor females which appear to be taken secretly in a school setting. Metadata associated with the images allegedly revealed they were taken at Shrewsbury high School, where Lingard was a mentor to the Shrewsbury High School Robotics Team.
Data extracted from Lingard’s phone include 23 images of minors who appear to be under the age of 10. Two images depict images of minors identified as child sexual abuse victims by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Lingard faces a charge of transportation of child pornography, which provides for a sentence of not less than five years and up to 20 years in prison, up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. He also faces a charge of possession of child pornography, which also provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
