EAST BROOKFIELD – A local man who had taken in cats over many years recently had to leave his home and could not take the animals with him. He reached out to Second Chance Animal Services, a non-profit animal welfare organization, for help.
The people at Second Chance soon realized why the man couldn’t take his cats with him. On Monday, Second Chance took in the man’s 52 cats.
Making matters worse, five of the 52 cats are pregnant with only three spayed or neutered. Many need additional medical care, such as treatment for eye issues, dental surgery, an oral mass, and upper respiratory issue. There are also six tiny kittens. There were four so terrified medical staff couldn’t examine them until the next day.
After assessing all 52 newcomers to Second Chance this week, they estimate over $25,000 for all the required medical care.
Second Chance is asking anyone that can contribute to the care of these 52 cats to donate here.
