WORCESTER – The “Turn It Down” All-Stars (TIDAS) return to the Brickbox Theatre, at 20 Franklin St., with another acoustic performance of an iconic album for charity.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, TIDAS performs the Beatles’ 1967 album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” the first of the band’s five studio albums released after they stopped touring in 1966.
The performance is the fourth annual event for charity by TIDAS and event organizer Ellen Walsh, of West Boylston.
TIDAS features Jim Walsh on drums, Bruce Rothney on mandolin, Reed Brewer on bass, and Sean Ryder on guitar.
Walsh and Rothney are members of the Rock Blockerz. Each is involved in other projects as well. Brewer is part of The Swaying Trees, a few other bands and runs his own open mic in Gardner. Ryder performs in other projects as well.
The TIDAS performance features REHarmonix, a 15-person a cappella chorus from Berlin, MA.
Walter Crockett will join local legends Chuck and Mud as the supporting act.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Pernet Family Health Services on Millbury Street in Worcester. Pernet is a family-centered and resource-rich partner in the development of strong, healthy, and self-sufficient families and individuals who actively take part in community life.
In 2022, TIDAS performed “Darkness On The Edge of Town,” released by Bruce Springsteen in 1978. Giuliano D’Orazio, a former Worcester Music Award winner for best male vocalist and former frontman of Hot Letter performed the Springsteen album with TIDAS. Proceeds from that event at the Brickbox Theater supported Net of Compassion, a Worcester-based charitable organization that provides support services for local individuals experiencing homelessness and addiction.
As part of the same series, the Big-League Collective performed U2’s “The Joshua Tree” in 2023 at the Brickbox Theater. Proceeds from that performance supported the emergency shelter at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Worcester by Open Sky Community Services.
In 2024, TIDAS performed a semi-acoustic version of Led Zeppelin IV. That performance at the Jean McDonough Arts Center featured Fatima Elmi-Dwinnells, a long-time member of the Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra in Arlington. The event raised funds for In the Hour of Need Family Shelter (IHN), a privately funded non-profit organization on June Street that supports local homeless families with children under 18 years old.
TIDAS performs “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Brickbox Theater. The event begins at 7 PM.
Tickets are available online or at the Hanover Theatre box office at 2 Southbridge St.
