WORCESTER – A 37-year-old man was shot Sunday night at a home on Lawnfair St. in Worcester. The man was transported from the scene to a local hospital.
According to the Worcester Police Department, the shooting suspect, 21-year-old Andrew Abilhomme, had called 9-1-1.
Police arrived around 8:40 PM and officers were told that Abilhomme was in the resident with a female. Police set up a perimeter around the home and the SWAT team and Hostage Negotiation Team were called in.
Police ordered Abilhomme to let the female leave the residence and she did. Abilhomme then surrendered himself. He was placed under arrest.
When officers entered the residence to make sure there weren’t anymore victim, another male — 35-year-old Damien Ellslager — charged at one of the officers and yelled, “I’m going to kill you.” Officers took Ellslager to the ground and placed him under arrest.
Detectives applied for a search warrant and discovered a loaded handgun. Abilhomme did not a license to carry firearms.
Abilhomme is charged with Assault to Murder, Use of a Firearm in a Felony, Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Improper Storage of a Firearm. In addition, he was arrested on an existing warrant.
Ellslager is charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disturbing the Peace, and Interfering with a Police Officer.
Both of them will be arraigned.
