WORCESTER – On Wednesday evening, a man died after suffering from a medical emergency inside his cell at the Worcester Police Department [WPD].
The WPD is awaiting autopsy results from the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause and manner of death — at this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious.
According to the WPD, around 7:12 PM, officers assigned to the Service Division found a male suffering from a medical emergency inside his cell.
The officers rendered first aid and the man was transported to a nearby hospital. Paramedics took over treatment upon arrival to the hospital.
The male was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
