Mass. Pirates Announce 2019 Home Schedule

WORCESTER –  The Massachusetts Pirates have announced the team will be playing seven home games this season at the DCU Center in Worcester.

The Pirates will open their home schedule against the defending National Arena League [NAL] Champion Carolina Cobras on April 13.  On April 27, the Pirates will host one of the new expansion franchises in the Orlando Predators as the Predators will make their first ever trip to the DCU Center.

“It’s always an exciting time when the schedule comes out and you can begin to visualize the season and start to mentally prepare for each opponent,” said Pirates President Jawad Yatim. “From a business standpoint you can take your preparation to another level in regards to finalizing plans for the season. It’s a big step towards gearing up for the final stretch of the off-season. To start the season off against the defending champs at home will be exciting. They obviously have a great team and staff and it’ll be an intense atmosphere at the DCU Center that night along with the rest of our games as this will be the most competitive season the league has seen thus far.”

The Pirates only home date in the month of May will be an 8:20 pm start on May 4th as they will host the Jacksonville Sharks.  The Pirates will look to avenge a loss from last year as the Sharks were the only team to defeat Massachusetts at the DCU Center during the regular season.

June features two home games as the expansion franchise New York Streets will visit Worcester for the first time on the first of the month and on June 22 the Pirates face arch rival Columbus. The DCU Center was the site of three outstanding games between the two clubs in 2018. The Pirates defeated the Lions twice last season in “walk-off” fashion, but Columbus ended the Pirates playoff run last August at the DCU Center.

“We added two fantastic markets in New York City and Orlando. Everyone is obviously aware of the nature of the rivalry between New York and Massachusetts so we are certainly excited to have that dynamic incorporated into our league. We are extremely confident in the roster we have brought in and if we work hard and stick to our core values, it should be another successful season for Pirate Nation. I Look forward to seeing everyone at the DCU Center this season,” Yatim said.

In July, Jacksonville returns to Worcester on the 13th and New York will close out the regular season portion of the schedule on July 27.

All Pirates home games will start at 7 PM.
