WORCESTER – A special school committee meeting which was scheduled for Wednesday, May 8 at 7 PM has been rescheduled to Thursday due to a “scheduling conflict,” according to sources.
The purpose of the special meeting is for the school committee to discuss, and vote on, a new contract for Worcester Public Schools superintendent Maureen Binienda. The only item on the agenda for the special executive meeting is negotiations with Binienda.
Last week, the item was pushed back a week to hear public commentary at the normally scheduled bi-weekly school committee meeting.
Binienda is currently in her first three-year term as superintendent.

The agenda item reads: “To conduct strategy in preparation for contract negotiations with nonunion personnel and to conduct negotiations with nonunion personnel – Superintendent, if an open meeting may have a detrimental effect on the collective bargaining position of the School Committee and the chair so declares.
Thursday’s meeting will take place at 7 PM at City Hall in the Mayor’s office.
