Man Reportedly Suicidal Prompts Closed Street in Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY – Police responded to a home on Melody Ln. on Friday night, June 11, in response to a man reported to be armed and suicidal at a residence there.

A resident of the home reported to emergency services around 6 PM that the man, armed with a firearm and who made statements about suicide, had barricaded himself inside the bathroom of the home.

Police closed access to Melody Ln. as a precautionary measure.

Attempts to contact the man were unsuccessful, prompting police to request the State Police Crisis Response Team to the scene.

Crisis Response Team members worked with the man for around five hours before gaining access to the bathroom. Police removed the man without injury to him or any law enforcement personnel. No firearm was located inside the bathroom or with the man.

First Responders transported the man to UMass Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

SHREWSBURY – Police in Shrewsbury have closed Melody Ln. in Shrewsbury at both Rt. 140 and a Lamplighter Dr. as part of an ongoing investigation. Residents are asked to avoid the area.
