The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency [MEMA] issued a Situational Awareness Statement on Friday, December 4, warning of a strong winter storm on Saturday, December 5, that could cause power outages in central Massachusetts.
MEMA reports it expects heavy rain in the late morning to change over to heavy wet snow and produce 8 to 12 inches of snow in central Massachusetts.
The statement said that snowfall should taper off in the late afternoon or evening and stop falling by midnight.
MEMA warned that the most likely areas for heavy snow and potential power outages are central and northeastern Massachusetts.
