Major League Baseball [MLB] has announced a reorganization of Minor League Clubs to 120 teams total, across four affiliates for each team. Those teams will compete at levels now named Triple-A, Double-A, High-A and Low-A levels.

According to MLB, the new alignment will come with player salary increases, higher facilities standards, reduced travel and better geographical alignment.

The Boston Red Sox affiliates are now:

  • Triple-A: Worcester Red Sox
  • Double-A: Portland Sea Dogs (Portland, Maine)
  • High-A: Greenville Drive (Greenville, South Carolina)
  • Low-A: Salem Red Sox (Salem, Virginia)

The Worcester Red Sox will play in the Northeast Division of Triple A-East which will include:

  • Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays)
  • Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies)
  • Rochester Red Wings (Washington Nationals)
  • Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRaiders (New York Yankees)
  • Syracuse Mets (New York Mets)

The Lowell Spinners, formerly a Class A Short Season affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, were not selected to continue as an affiliate team in MLB’s reorganization.
