WORCESTER- As local hair salons and barbershops eagerly reopen for business, Worcester’s Zack “TheBarber” Leighton and his crew are ready to welcome clients to their brand new shop on Tuesday.
Motley Crew Barber Company on Shrewsbury St. in Worcester is now open and aiming to “redefine the neighborhood barbershop.”
Leighton, 28, of Worcester, a 2019 ONESHOT hair awards finalist, told ThisWeekinWorcester.com that the inspiration to name his shop “Motley Crew” derived from a visit to the Wydah Pirate Museum in West Yarmouth after the death of a family member.
“A lot of people think that the name came from the band, and that was not my inspiration at all,” Leighton said. Without going into further details, he added, “My inspiration came from when my grandfather passed away two years ago.”
As for the Worcester community, Leighton and his crew aim to deliver excellent service for all walks of life.
“My goal with this shop is to cater to everybody. I want anybody to be able to come here and get a great cut that’s affordable,” Leighton said.
Leighton and the crew use top of the line vegan and cruelty free products, featuring brands such as ADH and ELEVEN Australia. Products are available to order on the shop’s website along with Motley Crew merchandise.
While social distancing precautions are still being enforced, the crew will be working in masks and gloves, changing smocks between every client, and will not allow indoor seating in the waiting area.
