WORCESTER – A Worcester County man amdLevel One Sex Offender faces federal charges possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.
Michael Myers, 37, of Lunenburg, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge David Hennessy in Worcester Federal Court on Monday, December 23. Law enforcement arrested Myers on Tuesday, December 17.
Accordimg to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, while executing a search warrant at Myers’ home, law enforcement discovered several videos and images of CSAM on his cell phone. A Massachusetts state court convicted Myers of possession of child pornography in 2015. He received a sentence of two years of probation in that case.
At his initial appearance, Myers consented to detention pending trial.
The charge of possession of child sexual abuse material with a prior conviction provides for a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
