Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr. announced the names of the two people who died at a residence on Old Webster Road in Oxford on Tuesday, June 22.
When Oxford Police arrived on the scene they found Jamie Dickson, a 34-year-old woman, dead inside the kitchen of the home from a gunshot wound. Early said Dickson called 911 around 5:15 PM.
Outside the back of the home, police found Jesse Brooks, a 38-year-old man, also dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
Early called the incident “an apparent murder-suicide,” and said the investigation appears to show that Brooks shot Dickson, then himself.
Three children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. A 13-year-old boy, which Early called “a pretty courageous young kid,” picked up a 4-year-old child and fled to a neighbor’s home.
Police removed a 3-year-old child from inside the home when they arrived at the scene.
Early also said that both Brooks and Dickson had a license to carry firearms.
