WORCESTER – On the first day in the job as Worcester Public Schools new superintendent, Dr. Rachel Monárrez shared a welcome message and entry plan on social media.

Dr. Monárrez takes over the reigns of the school district from former superintendent Maureen Binienda.
Dr. Monárrez comes to Worcester from the San Bernardino City Unified School District, where she served as Deputy Superintendent. The Worcester School Committee named Dr. Monárrez superintendent on April 28.
Monárrez holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education with an emphasis on urban education and a Masters of Arts in Education from Claremont Graduate University. She earned a Bachelor of Art in History from the University of California, Irvine.
